Our Story

2019

Écoscéno was founded in October 2019 by four professionals from the cultural sector (Jasmine Catudal, Geneviève Levasseur, Isabelle Brodeur and Anne-Catherine Lebeau) to meet the community's need to be equipped to engage in the ecological transition. The NPO was developed during the EntrePrism business incubator at HEC Montréal and thanks to the support of professors Martine Vézina in social innovation and Emmanuel Raufflet in circular economy at HEC Montréal.

2020

In 2020, Écoscéno launches its online store and inaugurates a 1,000 sq. ft. storage space on the premises of its partner Duceppe in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. We offer our first training courses in eco-design and sustainability in the performing arts as well as our first eco-design consulting services thanks to the financial support of the Fonds d'initiatives et de rayonnement de la métropole and the Cultural Development Agreement between the City of Montreal and the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications, PME Montréal - Centre-Ville and the Canada Council for the Arts.

2021

Our team continues to grow as a result of the enthusiasm in the cultural sector. We now offer a museum collection and are opening our textiles section to meet the needs of our clientele. Our storage space doubles in size and increases to 2,000 sq. ft. Canadian Heritage offers financial support to help develop and export our courses in both English and French.

2022

We are entering into collaborations with bearers of indigenous knowledge in order to enrich our approach to eco-design by nurturing our connections with nature and the territory we occupy. We want to mobilize the artistic community more around eco-design by making our courses more widely available across Canada.
